Hope Cowgill was a high-school teacher. She had been teaching Yoga and Pilates for years, but when the perfect space for her own studio “inBalance” became available, she had to make a move. On this episode of the How to Quit Working Show, Hope explains how she balanced her full-time job with starting her business.
About Hope Cowgill:
Born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, Hope started dancing at the age of two and has yet to stop. She danced all the way through high school and into college, where she discovered a new love – Pilates. This strengthening and flexibility enhancing exercise appealed to her as a dancer and came as second nature. She took up the exercise and soon found that it offered benefits inside and out that enhanced her performances as one of the Louisiana Tech Regal Blues Dancers. Soon Hope qualified as a Pilates teacher and among her first students were the Louisiana Tech University football and boys’ basketball teams.
Now living happily in San Antonio, she continues to work as a Pilates teacher having “retired” from her day job as a high school teacher. This is why she opened inBalance, to focus on her true passion and share the concepts and techniques of Pilates with other people and to teach them how to apply these concepts to their daily lives and movement.
